(as nine five-year olds tend to do) and she turned off the lights and said to the children,
"Excuse me, but you guys need to quiet down. I am talking with a grown- up!"
I felt my head jerk a little and my eyes widen. The term, 'grown-up' struck me.
I don't think I have ever been called that before.
As I sat down and ate my lunch I began to ponder the term... grown-up.
I thought, am I really a grown-up now?
And then I laughed to myself as I realized I was sitting in my chair with my knees pulled to my chest, eating a peanut butter & jelly sandwich and cheetos.
Then I thought- 'Nah.. still got a few years. That was just a fluke'
