Story Time
Every sunday I pick up my best friend and we go to church together. We were on our way home from Crosspoint (our church) and were stopped at the red light were Old Hickory Blvd. meets Highway 70 in Bellevue, right by the McDonalds.
I glanced over at Andrea and noticed her looking out the window, smiling, so I looked past her to see what she was grinning about. And it was this itty bitty girl, maybe seven years old, walking with her grandmother to their car in the McDonald's parking lot.
What was so amazing to us both was they way such a little girl was taking care of her grandma.
The little girl had the car keys and opened the trunk for her granmother, helped her fold her walker and set it in the trunk. She then took her grandma's purse, unlocked the the driver's side of the car, and put the purse beside the driver's seat. She opened the car door wider and patiently waited for her grandmother to take a seat in the car, and then proceeded to shut the door for her once she was safely in.
I have been thinking about this all day long. It is so amazing to see pure selflessness and love in action. And from such a young child! That little girl and her grandmother had no idea that they were being watched and had no idea that in that moment they had such an impact on two twenty-four year old girls. I guess it just goes to show you that you never know what kind of impact you might have on the people around you and you never know who might be watching.
